| A comprehensive
teacher evaluation system should provide different experiences for
the probationary status teacher and the continuing status teacher.
The probationary period is a time to frequently observe, conference,
support and ultimately make employment status decisions. The teacher
who has demonstrated the skills to be awarded continuing status will
experience greater benefit from working in collaboration with the
administrator in setting and pursuing goals associated with professional
development and student achievement. An excerpt from the evaluation

PROBATIONARY
STATUS
(The first three years of service)
Frequent observations and conferences by the evaluator. Frequent opportunities
to work with an instructional specialist.
Required professional development courses.

CONTINUING STATUS
(A three year evaluation experience)
A goal setting/implementation year initiates the sequence.
Continued implementation, data gathering and frequent progress checks are
the focus of the second year.
The third year includes data analysis, observations and conferences. |

growth, student feedback, professional standards and professional development.
Other competencies may be identified by your district. |
